Trinity Maritime Centre With its proximity to the sea and its shipbuilding past, Newcastle has very strong maritime connections. The Trinity Maritime Centre, housed in a former warehouse, tells the city's maritime past with model ships, ship memorabilia and displays showing Newcastle's Quayside in its heyday. This is a valuable insight into the past for large parts of the Quayside were destroyed by fire in the 1850s, and so today it is hard to get a feel for how crowded and bustling the area once was. The Trinity Maritime Centre is located on Broad Chare, just off the Quayside and to the south-east of the city centre. It is open from 11am to 4pm Mondays to Fridays between April and October. Admission costs around £2 for adults. Copyright © 1999 - 2008, Smooth Hound Systems | |||||
