Design Museum

Butler's Wharf, SE1
Nearest Tube: Tower Hill

Inspired by Sir Terence Conran, the Design Museum is dedicated to both domestic and industrial design. As such it covers everything from cars, kettles and vacuum cleaners to chairs and telephones.

It is housed on two floors of a converted warehouse, which accommodates both permanent exhibitions and temporary displays. The outside is stylishly stark and white which gives you an idea of the excellent displays you will see inside.

There is a small gift shop. And a restaurant is available for refreshments, which also provides some excellent views across the river, but it tends to be quite pricey.

The Design Museum is open daily from 10.30am-6pm weekdays and from noon-6pm weekends. Admission costs around £5 for adults.
