Edinburgh Town Guide |
A must for all fans of the "uisge beatha" (the water of life), the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre is located on the Castlehill stretch of the Royal Mile. |
The centre provides an hour-long tour that takes you through the history of Scotland's most famous drink. You can learn all about how whisky is brewed and the various techniques involved in blending different malts - and of course if you are an adult you also get to try a wee dram. But the main highlight of the Centre is probably the shop where you can marvel at the range of whiskies on offer, and take your pick from a huge choice of brands. The Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre is open daily from 9.30am to 6.00pm from June to September and from 10am to 5.30pm from October to May. Entry costs around £5 for adults. |
