Edinburgh Town Guide |
This quirky building, named after Mary Queen of Scots, is located at the end of the Canongate section of the Royal Mile. Legend has it that the queen used to bathe here in sweet white wine! |
Although there is no concrete evidence that the Queen ever visited the building, or indeed that it was ever a bathhouse (it was more likely a dovecot) over the years it has become quite a famous tourist attraction. Nearby are the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the ruins of Holyrood Abbey. |
