Queens College

Queens College can be found on the banks of the River Cam, next to Kings College.

It is actually named after two queens - Henry VI's wife Margaret, who first founded the college in 1448, and Edward IV's wife Elizabeth who re-founded it in 1478.

Many of the college's medieval buildings remain today, for example Cloisters Court with its President's Lodge.

From Queen's College you can see the picturesque wooden Mathematical Bridge over the River Cam. The original bridge is said to have been constructed without the use of nuts or bolts - the one you see today dates from 1902 and needed bolts!
