Pier
One of the most obvious features of Bournemouth is its pier, which juts out to sea from the town's glorious sandy beach.
The first pier to be built here was constructed in 1861, however it was damaged in a storm a few years later and so had to be replaced.
The pier that you can see today dates from 1880, and it has been a central feature of the town ever since.
It is still worth a visit for there is plenty to do, with attractions ranging from a theatre to street entertainers and even a kids club.
