 | Tenby Hotels: Tenby, located in Pembrokeshire, is a traditional walled town in South Wales. It is considered to be a premier tourist spot in the local area, situated about 80 kilometers to the west of Swansea. The town itself dates back to the Norman Conquest, with the walls dating back to 1093. One of the most appealing elements of the town is that it has largely been able to foil commercialization efforts. Today it remains unspoiled and picturesque. Cars are even banned from the centre of town during the summer months, which greatly aides in the appeal of Tenby as a relaxing getaway location.

Tenby is a seaside resort in Pembrokeshire on the south coast of Wales, facing out onto Carmarthen Bay. The town used to be important as a sea port and was defended by Tenby castle, which is unfortunately now ruined with only a few parts of its walls still standing as well as one of the early castle towers. The town grew to be a health resort during Victorian times and its botanical gardens were originally planted at this time.
Nowadays, Tenby is still popular as a tourist destination, helped by the easily accessible long sandy beaches that the town is rightly famous for. Apart from the beaches, there are plenty of other things to do in the town. Many of the buildings in Tenby date back to medieval times. These include the town walls that date back to the time of the Norman Conquest and also the Five Arches gate. This gate was originally the west entrance to the walled town. During the summer months, you can also take a day trip to the nearby Caldey Island and there is also a ferry service to the island at certain times of the year. The island has been home to a monastery since the sixth century and is still regularly home to spiritual retreats.
The centre of Tenby is free from cars during the summer months, which means that you can explore the town in peace and quiet as you wander around its narrow cobbled streets. Or you can venture outside the town for a quiet game of golf on one of the oldest golf courses in Wales.
We hope you enjoy your stay in one of our cheap Tenby hotels, mid range or luxury Tenby hotels.
