
The English urban area of Stonehouse is located within the Gloucestershire district of Stroud. The urban area of Stonehouse is home to a number of factories that include Dairy Crest. Stonehouse is close to the M5 motorway that makes it popular with companies as it has a main road and railway service to the city of London.
Stonehouse has a vast number of features that includes the area that is known as Doverow Hill. The area that is known as Doverow Hill was once a quarry and it is surrounded by hill and small cliffs. All of the cliffs and hills overlook the whole of Stonehouse.
The area of Stonehouse is probably best known for Wycliffe College and this college is now a public school. The Wycliffe College was opened in 1882 and it incorporated Haywardsend.
The stone that gave the town its name was repalced by red brick as this is much prefered by the builders. The bricks that were used to replace it were produced by the Tile and Stone Company of Stonehouse and this company at one point was one of the main employers within the area.
The site that was used by the brick company is now occuppied by the housing estate that is known as Rosedale. The town of Stonehouse is home to the Stownhouse town football club. The footbal club is made up of four separate teams and one of these teams is currently playing within the northern senior league. The town of Stonehouse has a strong community spirit.
