The English village of St Bees is located within Cumbria in the district that is known as Copeland. St Bees is also a civil parish. The village of St Bees is located about five miles south west of the town of Whitehaven. The village of St Bees has a population of about one thousand seven hundred and seventeen. Within the parish is St Bees head and this is the most westerly point within the northern part of England. St Bees head is home to the lighthouse for the village. The railway station of St Bees serves the village.

The village of St Bees features a Norman Priory and also an Elizabethan School. The village is also the start of the very famous Wainwright walk that goes from coast to coast. The village of St Bees only has one major sea cliff and this is the head. St Bees is the only heritage coastline within Cumbria. The village is the home to one of the most important seabird colonies in England.

The village name of St Bees has been taken from the Norse name for he village, which was Kirkby Behoc and this name can be translated to the church of Bega.

The great changes took place during the 1800's and in 1816 the Theological College of St Bees was formed and this college was the first one of its type outside Oxbridge. The college was used for training the clergy for the Church of England. At one time this college had over one hundred pupils and over two thousand six hundred clergy were trained within this college prior to it closing in 1895.
