Shepton Mallet Hotels

:  Shepton Mallet is located in Somerset on the Fosse Way route, which was one the primary Roman road in southwestern England. There are still Roman ruins in the local area. The town is situated approximately 29 kilometers south of Bristol. At one time the area was well known for its wool industry, although other industries have since replaced the wool industry in town. There are ample eating establishments in town and plenty of accommodations in the local area. The town can be easily reached through other villages and town in the immediate vicinity.

Shepton Mallet is a small English rural town that is located within the district of Mendip in Somerset. The town of Shepton Mallet is also classed as a civil parish. The town of Shepton Mallet is home to the headquarters for the district council of Mendip.

The town of Shepton Mallet is located about eighteen miles south of Bristol and five miles east of Wells. The Mendip Hills are located to the northern part of the town. There is a river that runs through the centre of the town and it is called River Sheppey.

The town is located on the route of the Fosse Way and this is the principal Roman Road that leads into the southwestern part of England. There is some evidence of a roman settlement along the roman road.

During medieval times the town was very popular within the wool industry and this was a major part of the economy of the town. The wool industry declined during the eighteenth century however it was replaced by other industries.

There is a feeling amongst the local area that the economy of the town is on a decline however the district council state that this is not represented in the figures. The town of Shepton Mallet has a population of about eight thousand nine hundred and eighty one. The population within the town consists of four thousand four hundred and eighty two males and four thousand four hundred and ninety nine females. When the last census was carried out in the town it revealed that about twenty two per cent of the population is aged sixteen years and younger, sixty four percent of the population is aged between sixteen years and sixty five years and there is also about fourteen percent of the population that is aged sixty five years and older.
