The English market town of Rugby is located in the West Midlands in the county of Warwickshire. The town is located on the banks of the River Avon. The town of Rugby has a population of about sixty on thousand nine hundred and eighty eight and this means that it is the second largest town within the county. The bigger area that is known as the borough of Rugby has a population of about ninety one thousand six hundred.

The town of Rugby is located about thirteen miles to the east of the city of Coventry and the town borders with Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. The town is probably best known as being the birthplace for the sport of rugby football.

The modern town of Rugby is actually an amalgamation of the original town and some of the areas that were once villages. These village areas were once known as Bilton, Brownsover, Newbold-on-Avon and also Hillmorton. All of these village areas were incorporated into the town during 1932 and this is when the town officially became a borough. Most of these village areas apart from Brownsover still actually have their original village centres.

The town centre has a vast number of restaurants and there is also a wide range of pubs and nightlife.

The town of Rugby is at the centre of the administration for both of the local authorities that are known the Warwickshire county council and Rugby borough council. The borough council of Rugby covers the town of Rugby and also the surrounding villages and countryside. Both of the local authorities are responsible for the various different aspects of the local government.
