Presteigne, located in Powys, is a traditional county town located in Wales. The town is frequently known as the Gateway to Wales and is located on the River Lugg. Nearby towns include Knighton and Kington. The town has been rated as one of the top ten small towns in Britain. The Welsh town of Presteigne is located within the area that is known as Powys. The town of Presteigne is a county town within the historic county of Radnorshire. The town of Presteigne is located on the banks of the River Lugg and it is located close to the town of Kington and also Knighton. Villages such as Stapleton and Norton also surround the town.

There are a number of notable buildings within the town that includes a church, a hotel and also judges lodgings. During 2004 the town of Presteigne attracted national attention as it saw an unsuccessful campaign to enforce a curfew on the youth by its Mayoress who was known as Peggy F Scott.

Over the years there has been a number of notable residents within the town and these include Peter Puget who was a famous captain within the Royal Naval. The town has also been home for Chaz Davis who is a famous motorcycle racer and in fact he was born in the town during 1987.

The town has become the local centre for culture and the town hosts' two festivals per year. The first festival is known as Sheep Music and it is based on contemporary music. The second festival is the music and arts festival of Presteigne and this festival have a bigger net.
