The English town of Northwich is located within the area that is known as Cheshire. The town of Northwich is a civil parish that is located within the Chester and Cheshire West. The town of Northwich is located within the centre of the plain of Cheshire at the point where the Rivers Weaver and Dane meet. The town of Northwich is located about eighteen miles to the east of Chester and also about fifteen miles south of Warrington.

The area that surrounds the town of Northwich has over the years been exploited for its saltpans and this has happened since the time of the Romans. During the time of the Romans the town was known as Condate. Historically the town of Northwich has been severely affected by the mining of salt within the area and the area has suffered from subsidence.

During the nineteenth century the town of Northwich actually became an uneconomical location to mine for the salt. Instead of mining they pumped hot water through the mines, which actually worked to dissolve the salt.

The town of Northwich is located on the Cheshire Plain and the town is between fifteen and thirty-five meters above sea level. The town of Northwich has a lot of surrounding civil parish that includes Marston, Barnton, Wincham, Davensham and Hartford to name a few.

Over the years the town of Northwich has seen its fair share of famous people including John Greenway, Ludwig Mond and also John Brunner Sir. John Greenway was the MP for the area of Ryedale and he was also born within the town.
