New forest is a large area of forest and pasture land located in south east England. The forest itself, also known as New Forest National Park, covers two counties. Piper's Wait, the forest's highest point, has its summit at 410 feet above sea level. Originally the New Forest was all wooded, but parts of it were cleared out to be used for cultivation; however, the soil was no good leaving the area a wasteland for heath. You will discover all sorts of mounds and monuments throughout the forest, about 150 of which are nationally noticed and protected. New Forest was originally created to be a hunting ground for royalty, and to this day about ninety percent is still owned by the Crown.

The forest is home to an array of wildlife, plants, and trees. Horses run free as New Forest has some of the largest unenclosed pasture land in England. There are many things to see and experience in New Forest. If you love nature, you will love all New Forest has to offer, wildlife and camping under the stars. There are a variety of marked out campsites, but you also have the option of going out and finding a secluded area to sleep under the stars. If camping isn't your thing, don't worry, there are also many hotels and bed and breakfasts along the way.

One of the highlights of New Forest is its annual event called the New Forest Show. The show runs for three days and has a large array of events ranging from show jumping to livestock competitions. It is a great place to come to enjoy picnics, hiking, or pony rides for the kids. There are guided tours, bicycle trails, beaches, gardens, and just about anything you can imagine dealing with nature.
