New forest is a large area of forest and pasture land located in south east England. The forest itself, also known as New Forest National Park, covers two counties. Piper's Wait, the forest's highest point, has its summit at 410 feet above sea level. Originally the New Forest was all wooded, but parts of it were cleared out to be used for cultivation; however, the soil was no good leaving the area a wasteland for heath. You will discover all sorts of mounds and monuments throughout the forest, about 150 of which are nationally noticed and protected. New Forest was originally created to be a hunting ground for royalty, and to this day about ninety percent is still owned by the Crown.The forest is home to an array of wildlife, plants, and trees.
