The Scottish village that is known as Kinlochleven is located within the area that is known as Lochaber within the Highlands of Scotland. The village of Kinlochleven is located to the eastern side of Loch Leven. To the north of the village of Kinlochleven lies the Mamores Ridge and to the south of the village is the area that is commonly known as Glen Coe. Loch Leven is a sea loch that cuts into the western part of the Scottish Highlands. A processing plant for aluminium once dominated the village and it was powered by a hydroelectric scheme that was located in the mountains that surround the village. The village of Kinlochleven is a unique location and it is set amongst some spectacular scenery featuring moors, rivers, woodlands and mountains.

The hydroelectric scheme was erected during 1907 on behalf of the British Aluminium Company who alter merged with Alcan. Two brothers that are known as Charles and Patrick Meik designed the scheme and they are both experts within the engineering field.

The village rapidly expanded during the 1900's mainly due to the Aluminium Company. The village hs developed into a popular location for outdoor enthusiasts. The village had its centenary year in 2008 and the community is looking forward to a brighter future.

When the aluminium company closed the village set up a community trust, which primarily focused on regenerating the village as a place for outdoor tourism and it building it s a small centre for business. Over the years the focus has changed lightly but the overall goals of promoting the town has remained the same.
