By 1801 the population of Ilford was one thousand seven hundred and twenty four and then 1841 it had grown even bigger and had a population of about three thousand seven hundred. During 1839 the railway station was opened within the district of Ilford and it was opened on the main Great Eastern Line.
This area is best known of the being the location for the murder of Percy Thompson that took place in 1922 within the area that is known as Kensington Gardens.
