| The White Hart is situated in the attractive village of Bouth in south Lakeland, and just a five minute drive from the major A590 road which extends from the M6 to Barrow-in-Furness on the west coast. A very convenient centre for visits southwards to Cartmel with it's historic Priory, Holker Hall and Grange-over-Sands. A mile or two north of Bouth you enter the enchanting woodland in the southern fringe of the renowned Grizedale Forest Park - a Mecca for walkers and cyclists. Beyond this is Hawkshead and Coniston Water - then the charming scenic routes to Windermere, Buttermere and the northern lakes. |
| The west coast road, with miles of quiet beaches, gives easy access to Ravenglass and Muncaster Castle and, beyond that, to St. Bees and Whitehaven. The White Hart Inn has been owned by Nigel and Kath Barton since 1998: they are local Cumbrians. The interior is remarkable and un-spoilt - a veritable museum of rustic artifacts and historic photographs which leave a lasting impression of rural life in this corner of south Lakeland. |

The atmosphere is warm and cosy with wood fires providing the perfect welcome to enjoy a quiet drink and a satisfying meal. Good food and drink is a priority both in the 40 seat Dining Room, with the lovely views, and for the bar-food in the Bar and Lounge areas. Two chefs are on hand to ensure the excellence of the home-cooked fresh produce, featuring local reared lamb and beef and trout and salmon from the nearby streams and lakes. | The White Hart Inn has an excellent reputation for catering for Family Celebrations - Birthdays, Weddings etc. - and also for Business or Club hospitality functions. Behind the Inn there is a garden terrace with comfortable seating and tables, with a pleasant restful outlook across meadow land to the forest fringe beyond. The seated area here enjoys the benefits of 3 mobile heaters to ease the discomfort of a chilly breeze. Smokers can use this area. The Inn has a games room too, with the usual facilities for a bit of relaxed competition. |
