Balgonie Castle is 3 miles away. Weddings in their chapel attract couples from all over the world. For the golf enthusiast, Wester Markinch is ideal to use as a base. Balbirine Golf Course is on our doorstep. Qualifying courses of Leven and Ladybank are a 10 minute drive away. With 20 courses within a 30 mile radius, it is a golfer's paradise. |
| Visitors from abroad may also choose Markinch as a base. With a regular train service to Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Glasgow, Stirling, The Borders and The Trossachs are in easy driving distance. Balbirnie Park has beautiful walks and there is a stone circle about a mile from the house. Markinch is a large village and its church dates back to 13th century. The village boasts both an Indian and Chinese restaurant which are both reasonably priced or if you prefer more traditional cooking, The Laurel Bank Hotel provides bar meals as well as restaurant dining. There is also a supermarket and various other shops to browse through. |
