| Reputedly built for a sea captain in the mid 19th century, Velwell is now a family home which occasionally opens as an art gallery particularly in September when Val, a painter and printmaker, takes part in Devon Open Studios. Original art work features throughout the house. Relax, read, play the piano, watch TV or gaze at the fabulous views over Dartmoor from the spacious guest sitting room. |
| Our Rooms Contemporary and comfortable, with original fireplace, our square bedroom boasts a super king-size bed and a wet room with powerful shower, washbasin, heated towel rail and WC. A bay window faces Hood Ball Hill and Dartmoor in the distance. Digital LCD TV and wireless internet included.
Our split-level long bedroom has three different outlooks including fine views of Dartmoor. With king size bed and sitting area (room for an extra single bed if required), this is a very spacious room with digital TV and sitting area, all complemented by a large en-suite bathroom (shower, washbasin, heated towel rail and WC). |

| How to get here From the A38 take the Buckfastleigh turn-off and follow the A384 sign posted Dartington and Totnes. After the Riverford Bridge take the first turning on the right marked Velwell. The house is at the top of the hill on the left about 1/2 mile from the turn off. From Totnes take the Ashburton road. At the Dartington Cider Press turn right towards Buckfastleigh on the A384. *Turn left immediately after the Rudolph Steiner School to Velwell. The house is at the top of the hill on the left about 1/2 mile from the turn off From Dartington Hall take the road through the college away from Totnes. At Dartington church turn right onto the A384 towards Buckfastleigh and continue as for * From Totnes Railway Station Velwell House is about two and a half miles from the station. |
