In 2003 a large part of the coastline from Exmouth to Chesil Beach was declared an Historic World Heritage Site, on account of its strong and visible links to the Jurassic Age.

This is a bygone age from which old fossils are constantly turning up on the beaches in this area. Now two more old fossils have turned up, and are looking to welcome you to their hideaway between Moores Dorset Biscuits and the sea.

Topsy Turvy was acquired in 2003, and after much remedial work now boasts a comfortable en-suite studio at the end of our bungalow. This is more than adequate for two adults, though we regret the accommodation would not be suitable for children or pets.

Guests have their own front door and parking space.

The view to the South takes in Golden Cap, with the sea visible to the right and beyond this popular landmark on the Dorset coastline. In the foreground, a yew tree provides shade during the heat of the day, while a noisy gathering of birds swoop and scavenge from our nest of well stocked bird tables.

The studio incorporates a small kitchenette, including a cooker, fridge, microwave and a full complement of utensils and cutlery plus a selection of basic condiments. We have no objection to guests using the facilities to prepare their own evening meals. There is also a separate shower room with toilet and wash basin. A large double bed, and the usual living room furniture completes the ensemble. A single bed is also available if required.

Guests are welcome on a daily basis all year (weekly in High Season) We have contacts with other local BnB establishments, who may take guests when we are oversubscribed.

We offer both English and Continental breakfast and aim to maintain a full range of cereals, fruit and juices, as well as tea, coffee and croissants.

Morcombelake is well situated for a number of rambling excursions, the most popular being directly from our front door across a couple of fields to Golden Cap and thence via the SW coast path east to Seatown (The Anchor at Seatown is an excellent stop for a pub lunch on the way out or home!) Eype and West Bay, or west to Charmouth and Lyme Regis. Buses connecting to each of these locations pass our door.

Some may want to use their cars, and this will extend the range to many delightful villages, coastal and inland, that are just waiting to be discovered. A study of the Dorset Arts Festival in June reveals that there are well over 300 artists living and working in this fair county, all eagerly inviting you to visit their studios and purchase examples of their craftmanship.

We do not serve evening meals, as there are many excellent eateries in the area.

The local town, Bridport, is itself no stranger to history, being mentioned in the Doomsday Book as well as being home to the invention of the hangman's noose.

A bus passes behind our hedge, and hovers outside Moores Dorset Biscuits for late risers to whisk them westwards to Exeter or eastwards to Poole, though not, of course, at the same time.

Brisk markets at Honiton and Bridport add a little local colour, and a lot of local talent, as the wide variety of stall holders press their wares on the eager public. We can be reached from the outside world for early bookings (recommended) on our e-mail

zeddles@talktalk.net

or the usual telephonic and snail mail alternatives. Samples of these, too, (snails!) keep appearing as the cliffs crumble away before our very eyes.
