| Things to do |
| Richmond upon Thames lies 15 miles southwest of central London - a fast train from Waterloo will bring you here in 15 minutes. When you arrive you will emerge into a different world. Defined by the River Thames with over 20 miles of riverside this is without doubt the most beautiful of capital's 32 boroughs. We really have something for everyone from the river walks to our parks and world-class destinations such as Hampton Court Palace, Marble Hill House, Kew Gardens and Twickenham Rugby Stadium which in addition to hosting international rugby matches and rock concerts houses the Museum of Rugby - open to visitors all year round. Whatever you are shopping for Richmond has it all. If you feel the need for a spot of pampering, take a scroll up George Street where there are hair salons and cosmetics counters aplenty. Move on towards Hill Rise and a range of galleries will wet any artistic appetite. For a gem of a cobbled street, head to Church Street in Twickenham where you can stroll along an entire road of boutiques boasting gifts, jewellery, ladies, fashions, formal suit hire, and the Ell Pie pub. Try the Swan Pub on the river. |
