Welcome to the Old Smithy Bed and Breakfast

Set in a quiet, idyllic village on a crest of the Downs, The Old Smithy is a charming timbered house dating from the late 17th century, with a welcoming, informal atmosphere. It has beautiful downland views, a large, mature garden, terrace and sitting-room for your exclusive use, with log fire and TV.

Accommodation

There are two comfortable and delightfully furnished double bedrooms on the first floor with own bathrooms, and a twin-bed room on the ground floor with en suite bathroom and toilet.

Breakfast and other meals

A traditional English breakfast is served in the dining-room from 7am to 9am, or earlier by arrangement.

For walkers a packed lunch can be provided at an extra charge if notice is given.

Evening meals can be obtained at excellent pubs in West Ilsley, Chaddleworth and Peasemore, all within 3 miles. There is a choice of restaurants in Wantage. For walkers we can give a lift to these places.

Rates

The rates are £65.00 per night for a double room (2 occupants) and £40.00 per night for single occupancy. The rates include full breakfast.

Area

Farnborough lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 10 miles north of Newbury, 18 miles (25 minutes) from Oxford, and 4 miles from the attractive market town of Wantage. Less than a mile away is the Ridgeway (national trail), and there are other footpaths and bridleways radiating out from the village.
