OXTED The Croft is situated close to the centre of Oxted with its main line railway station to London. It boasts a collection of pubs, restaurants, shops and many churches dating back to 12C. Amenities include a leisure centre with gym, swimming pool, quaint cinema, theatre, park and cricket pitches. For your evening meal we are fortunate to have a wide selection of pubs and restaurants within a short walk. In Old Oxted, The Old Bell is a 15th Century Coaching Inn with an excellent range of cuisine. Dine by candle light in the nooks and crannies under old oak beams. Almost next door stands the equally old George Inn with its comprehensive restaurant and bar snack menus. This is a favourite with our guests although we have yet to meet anyone who has conquered all 3 courses! Opposite is The Crown Inn renown for its resident ghost and crackling log fires. Split onto 2 floors this is a favourite with young people who enjoy their varied menu. Finally the last pub in this wonderful old High Street, which has cottages and an old lock up dating back to the 14th Century is The Wheatsheaf, a friendly local with a large TV screen for those major sporting attractions. Equally near in "New" Oxted (build around 1870!) are a selection of restaurants, 8 pavement café's and several takeaways. Amongst the Mock Tudor fronted shops you will find Cucina Italian restaurant and The Gurka Kitchen, a Nepalese restaurant of repute. Also there are a couple of excellent Indian restaurants and naturally a Fish and Chip restaurant / takeaway. Pizza Express cater for your Italian cuisine and there are kebab take aways also. Adjacent to the railway station is The Oxted Inn a J D Wetherspoon establishment renown for its excellent value for money with its unbeatable bar and menu prices. It is quite possible for 2 people to dine here with drinks and have change from £10! Breakfast is also served.
Visiting London Each year guests from around the world stay at The Croft and their purpose is to visit London. They consider that by staying outside London it is better value, safer and balances the hustle and bustle of the city with the peace and tranquillity of the countryside. Getting to London is both easy and inexpensive. Oxted station is a 10 minute walk or 3 minute drive from The Croft. The station is on the direct main line to London Victoria, the best placed London station for all the major tourist attractions, the train journey will take 35 minutes. Having reached London Victoria there are 35 top attractions that you can reach on foot within about 15 minutes. We pride ourselves with ensuring our guests get the best value when going to London offering advice with the best ticket to buy and special offers available. For example a Family Travel Card offers 2 adults and 2 children return fares to London on brand new air- conditioned trains and unlimited travel on the buses and underground for £19.60, just £4.90 each! Alternatively 4 adults can buy a Groupsave ticket where 4 can travel for the price of 2. The cost of travelling to and from London with buses and underground included is just £6.55 each....a real bargain! And now there is a ticket for 3 adults at £8.65 each! Amazing!!Each year we also obtain the 2 for the price of 1 offers that apply when you travel to London by train. The savings are on major tourist attractions, restaurants and some theatres and often save £10 - £15, sometimes more than the cost of the rail ticket! You can of course stay in London, but if you want a reasonable standard of accommodation it can be very expensive and often a little noisy until around 3.00am! You can also visit London by car but you have to be a little crazy! The Mayor of London likes to welcome you with a weekday congestion charge of £8 and if you fail to pay by midnight on the following day of entry it goes up to £120 If you are lucky enough to find somewhere to park expect to pay around £8 per hour. Should you park in the wrong place don't worry we will tow your car away for safe keeping but we will give it back only when you have paid £65 clamping fee, £150 removal fee and £25 per day storage. We like to take your photograph too, for driving in bus lanes £50, stopping in a boxed junction £50, or missing a red light £50 Should a break in the traffic occur speeding fines start around (you guessed it) £50 Believe us a Family Travel Card with unlimited travel on trains, buses and underground at £18 is a real bargain!

Frequently Asked Questions - Helping you Plan Here are some the questions we are often asked: How long from Gatwick Airport? - approx 25mins by car How long from Heathrow Airport? - approx 1 hour by car How long from Stanstead airport?- approx 1 hour by car Can I walk from the station? Yes its about 10 mins (or 3 in a taxi! ) Can I leave my car at The Croft and take the train to London, yes of course! Do you take children? Yes if they are over 5 Do I need to book? We would advise you pre book to ensure you get the room you would like for the dates you require. Do I need to pay a deposit? If you are a UK resident and booking weeks ahead we would ask for 30% of the total booking value at the time of booking. If you are an overseas vistor we ask for a deposit via Paypal (as used on ebay). If you do not have a PayPal account we ask you for your flight number and estimated time of arrival. We request you reconfirm your booking one week prior to departure from your home country. Do you accept credit debit cards? Sorry we do not, we do accept the following payment types: Cash (Sterling) Euro PayPal - paid 2 weeks in advance of arrival Cheques - recieved 2 weeks in advance of arrival BACS - transfers in advance of arrival What time can I check in? After 16.30 or by prior arrangement. My flight arrives in the morning can I check in then? Yes by prior arrangement. Can you arrange restaurants and taxis for me? Yes of course. Do you serve evening meals? No, we are surrounded by wonderful pubs and restaurants that will be delighted to serve you. There are approx 12 within 10 minutes walk. How much is the charge for the Wireless internet - Its free!! What time do I need to check out on my day of departure? 10:30 unless by prior arrangement. Why do you not have a tourist board rating? Well there are quite a few to choose from, Enjoy England, Visit Britain, Surrey Tourism. Its very confusing to say the least, moreover we do not believe it guarantees you a standard of accommodation and hospitality, a recent example of a top rated Tourist Board Bed and Breakfast showed the host/owners living up the road and away from their guests! Many of our guests have returned. Do you take cats or dogs - Sorry No. Any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
