History![]() The Hotel situated on the south side of Tudor Square, has the proud history of being the Tenby home of Sir William Paxton. This self made man of great vision developed the town into the fine bathing spa of regency times, creating many of the attractive and picturesque buildings that give the resort its unique character to this day. Originally a medieval coaching-inn known as "The Globe Inn", this site was developed by Sir William Paxton in 1802 as his home, following his return from India where he made his fortune as a trading merchant. Many of the fine features which he incorporated into the building have been preserved in the Hotel's recent tasteful renovation and upgrading of facilities. Paxtons other great achievement was to develop the fine country estate at Middleton Hall, Llanarthne, Carmarthenshire, and the Tenby house Hotel is proud to be linked with this site, now home to the National Botanic Garden of Wales. |
