Set in the centre of the main street of the historic market town of Clitheroe, the Swan and Royal in a former coaching inn dating back to the 1830s.  In its earlier years as a hostelry, it boasts guests both famous and some say infamous, in the local area and throughout the country. You can stay in rooms named after a selection of the most interesting of these people. In the last two years, the Swan and Royal has undergone a major refurbishment, keeping its original character, but making it a warm and friendly place to eat and drink. During the day it is the ideal place to rest tired legs after walking round the market or the wide range of individual shops Clitheroe has to offer. At night it is a little more lively - being the centre of town makes it the centre of socialising! |

| Directions The Swan & Royal is situated on the main street in Clitheroe, just minutes from the castle. It is accessible through the scenic Ribble Valley from the north or via the A59 from the M6 or M65. Clitheroe is the ideal location to stop for a night or lunch on a journey from West to East or East to West.Follow the main road into Clitheroe, then follow the one-way system until you climb Moor Lane. Turn right into Castle Street and we are on the right. |
