| Joan with help from her youngest son and daughter run Strathmore House. While Murdo and his eldest son with one other crewman, work the family fishing boat 'Coquet Herald'. |

| Landing, daily fresh fish and prawns for the British and European markets. Murdo and Joan have a great love of Ullapool, its people and its way of life. Which is reflected in a recent CD and tape, which includes songs written by Murdo and sung by himself and members of his family. (Available on request) as a souvenir of Ullapool. |

| The deer herd (stags, hinds and bambis) behind the house is owned and run by Murdo's father. The family also has sheep and lambs on their croft their hens providing fresh free range eggs daily. The house over looks the golf course at Ullapool our croft land runs to the 4th green and 5th T off.We have a swimming pool and leisure centre in the village. There is a car/passenger ferry to the Isle of Lewis (return day trip is possible) or cruise to the summer Isles or just watch them sail by. There is also plenty fishing and hill walking available. |


| Strathmore House is situated 1 mile North of Ullapool on the A835. It enjoys magnificent panoramic views over Loch Broom & Ullapool from our spacious dining room where a full Scottish Breakfast is served. Adjoining the dining room there is an attractive residents lounge with television. |

| Strathmore has en suite accommodation on offer with tea and coffee making facilities. The house is situated on our own croftland, behind a red deer herd while to the front, our croft land provides easy access to the sea shore. |

| Ullapool is a truly 'purpose built' port for the fishing industry which 200 years ago, was thriving as it has continued to do, in one form or another, up to the present day. The local Broom Museum gives an excellent picture of the area from prehistoric times.Ullapool itself is a hive of activity in midsummer, with visitors from all over the world enjoying its places of interest. Not far away there are many areas worth exploring, including the spectacular Corrieshalloch Gorge and the 150ft falls of Measach. Further afield, the whole of Wester Ross and Sutherland is within an easy day's return drive, including: Inverewe gardens Loch Maree, Torridon Kyesku, Lochinver and Lairg |
