| The house, its garden and the surrounding area offer a tranquil escape from the pressures of modern life. Stowford Houseis ideally located for exploring Devon and Cornwall. We are close to the wild beauty of Dartmoor and the lovely Tamar Valley, both of which offer excellent walking and cycling.A thirty minute drive will take you to the North or South coasts of Devon and Cornwall. The Eden project, Cornwall's latest attraction, is only a 45 minute drive away. There are several National Trust properties nearby, including Lydford Gorge and Cotehele House. |

| Feeling refreshed after a good nights sleep, a hearty Stowford House breakfast will set you up for a day exploring the charms of West Devon. Our guests have a choice of a continental, full English cooked or vegetarian breakfast. There is always a choice of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt and fruit juice. Home made marmalade and jams are a must on the thick slices of toast. Our dining room is cosy and intimate. The large window provides a good view over the garden and pond, and is ideal for watching the wide variety of birds who have made themselves at home in our garden.Enjoy your breakfast watching blue tits, great tits, greenfinches, nuthatches and others feed at the window feeders and bird table. ![]() For guests requiring an evening meal, we can recommend a number of pubs and restaurants nearby. Sample menus are available and we would be happy to reserve a table at your choice for the evening. |

You can visit the beautiful beaches on the North and South coasts, the cities of Exeter and Plymouth and the famous historic houses and gardens of Devon and Cornwall.Timeless thatched cottages, ancient churches, old stone bridges and secret corners where rare flowers grow can all be found by following the numerous village trails. | HOW TO FIND STOWFORD HOUSE |
| FROM THE M5 Leaving the M5 at junction 31, take the A30 towards Okehampton and Launceston. Soon after passing Okehampton, take the exit signposted to Plymouth (A386).The exit is also signposted (separately) to Lewdown. You will come to a T-junction almost straight away. Turn right and then immediately left, signposted to Lewdown. Continue for about seven miles until you reach the village of Lewdown. Pass through the village, then after half a mile take the turning right signposted to Stowford.Continue down the hill for 400 yards until you reach a sharp left bend. Stowford House is on this bend. ARRIVING FROM THE WEST Leave the A30 shortly after passing Launceston, taking the exit signposted to Lifton and Lewdown. At the T-junction that you reach immediately, turn right.Continue along this road, passing back under the A30 and continuing through the village of Lifton. About four miles past Lifton take the left turn signposted to Stowford, immediately after the Royal Exchange public house. Continue down the hill for 400 yards, until you reach a sharp left bend. Stowford House is on this bend. FROM TAVISTOCK If you are travelling up from Tavistock, it is easiest to take the A386 until just before it passes under the A30. Take the left turn here signposted to Lewdown.Continue for about seven miles until you reach Lewdown. Pass through the village, then after half a mile take the turning right signposted to Stowford. Continue down the hill for 400 yards, until you reach a sharp left bend. Stowford House is on this bend. |
