Welcome to St. Mark's Country House Bed & Breakfast. Built in 1872 as the vicarage for Cautley Church the house enjoys a magnificent setting in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

St. Mark's offers an excellent base for walkers and cyclists as well as for visiting Sedbergh, England's book town, and the many other attractions of the Lake District and Cumbria.

Simply enjoy the slow pace and atmosphere of our beautiful unspoilt countryside with its fells, streams, wildlife and flowers. Situated in the dale of Cautley, the house enjoys impressive views of the Howgill Fells across the Rawthey valley.

St. Mark's combines the elegance of the Victorian age with modern comforts and facilities.

There are 5 bedrooms, 3 twin/double, 1 family and 1 single. All the bedrooms benefit from en-suite baths or showers, tea & coffee making facilities and colour televisions with DVD players.

Enjoy a continental or traditional Aga cooked English breakfast with locally sourced produce in the elegant dining room with beautiful views across the Rawthey Valley.

The house stands in an acre of tended garden frequently visited by foxes, deer and a variety of birds.

Drying facilities are available for waterproofs and boots and there is undercover storage for cycles. A selection of maps and guidebooks for planning your outings can be found in the dining room.

Telephone and wireless internet facilities are available.

Pets are welcome by prior arrangement.

St. Mark's is about 3 miles (5 Km) north east of Sedbergh on the A683 Kirkby Stephen road and 11 miles (18 Km) from junction 37 on the M6.

Private off-road parking is available for cars along with secure undercover storage for cycles.

The nearest railway stations are Oxenholme, on the west coast main line (13 miles, 21 Km) and Kirkby Stephen, on the scenic Leeds - Settle - Carlisle line (9 miles, 14 Km).
