We use fresh produce that is delivered daily from local suppliers. Each meal is prepared individually, and can be tailored to meet your preference or your particular requirements or needs. Our Function Suite offers you probably the best venue in the area. The Ribble Suite is able to accommodate from 10 to 150 people for a sit down meal and up to 250 for a buffet disco. Weddings The Shireburn is a suitable venue for any type of wedding reception, as the atmosphere suggests relaxation and homeliness. The service, on the other hand, is efficient and at the same time friendly, and in keeping with the standards of the hotel. The Owner and Manager is available to offer unlimited assistance with any special services, such as musicians, balloons, decorations and can offer advice and recommendations to make your day 'one to remember' at no extra charge. Personal requirements are easily complied with as we have the staff and the experience to meet individual requests whatever their nature. Conferences When you are next considering a venue to meet a client, organise a training session, have a meeting away from the office, or holding an exhibition, the Shireburn could be the answer. | Location The beautiful and idyllic village of Hurst Green is situated in the heart of the Ribble Valley. It is a superb location for a weekend break or even longer. It's location affords access to all the main attractions of Lancashire and the Lake District all of which are within a comfortable travelling distance. The village itself is reputed to be haunted by the Highwayman Ned King and his ghostly spectre has been seen on many occasions riding through the village late at night. One of the most famous landmarks in the village is Stonyhurst College. The College is one of the more exclusive private schools in England. The College is home to a number of priceless artefacts including a 7th century Gospel of St. John. The College has been the setting for many films and books including the film "Three men and a little lady". The play "The Wilmslow Boy" by Terence Rattigan was based on a student at the College. Many famous students have attended the College, including, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes and the setting for "The Hound of the Baskervilles" was indeed Stonyhurst itself. Other notable students include the actor Charles Laughton and JRR Tolkien the author of "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit". The Shireburn Arms Hotel itself has been in Hurst Green since the 17th century and has been a focal point of the village since that time. It is quite possible that Ned King, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and JRR Tolien, all enjoyed the hospitality of this beautiful hostelry. |
