 Its doors have been opened to welcome weary travellers and explorers of the 'Moor' since 1835 when Rombalds hotel began its life as a rooming house. On the surface little has changed. Today Rombalds continues to greet visitors from near and far, who, by choice or good fortune, have found themselves in one of the most agreeable locations in all of Yorkshire - Ilkley and its world famous moor. Under the ownership and day to day care of Colin and Jo Clarkson, Rombalds has been lovingly and extensively refurbished to restore it to its former glory as a classic Yorkshire Country House. It exudes Georgian charm and style from every characterful nook and cranny not to mention that unmistakable Yorkshire warmth and friendliness. |
 The quiet and extremely comfortable bedrooms are en suite and range from Suites to the more compact with shower each thoughtfully appointed with all amenities including colour satellite television, radio alarm, telephone, trouser press, tea and coffee making facilities and hair dryers. |
 The lounge and cocktail bar with its open fireplaces is a peaceful retreat for guests who can select one of the 30 odd malts on offer while studying the menu for the restaurant. |
Rombalds much commended and recommended award winning restaurant serves a pleasing choice of local and international cuisine. The diverse wine list provides a cosmopolitan list of wines from all the major wine producing countries of the world including a good selection of half bottles, brandies, ports and dessert wines.  Rombalds name has become synonymous with private dining and more recently with civil marriage ceremonies where parties from 2 to 70 can be catered for in the hotel's private dining rooms. Rombalds is an ideal location for anyone working or on holiday in the area. It is situated at the edge of the Moor, overlooking the Ilkley Town Centre, with its Victorian shopping arcade, including various antique and book shops on The Grove only 600 yards away. Sporting activities in and around the town include golf, tennis, fishing, riding, shooting and walking. Rombalds is a superb base for walking and exploring the unspoilt moor and fells as well as the heritage attractions of Bolton Abbey and Fountains Abbey. The stately homes of Harewood House and Castle Howard are also within easy reach. In fact, Ilkley is well connected in lots of ways, Leeds/Bradford Airport is only 20 minutes away, with Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate a half hour drive and you can be in York or the Lakes in just over an hour. |
