Redcoats Farmhouse dates back to 1450 and has been in our family since the beginning of the century. Having been lucky enough to grow up in a special and much loved family home, we felt that the atmosphere and environment so enjoyed by our family could be experienced and enjoyed by others.

Redcoats Farmhouse Hotel, 9KOur aim is to provide hospitality that is rarely found nowadays. For the past 30 years we have worked hard and (we are pleased to report) successfully, to achieve a reputation as one of the foremost hotels and restaurants in Hertfordshire.

Set in 4 acres of gardens with unspoiled views over the countryside yet only 5 minutes from the A1(M) and 20 minutes from the M1 and M25.

Dining at Redcoats

Our Head Chef and his team produce superlative menus offering the very best in traditional fare - English bacon from a Yorkshire butcher who breeds his own pigs, free range eggs, probably the best cheese board in the area (with English hand made cheeses), fresh orange juice, local honey and home-made marmalade. Only fresh fish and vegetables from the very best suppliers are prepared in our kitchen - where the expression 'home made' really means something special.

The wine cellar is a speciality of Redcoats, with a world wide selection of wines chosen to complement the food.

We believe that dining at Redcoats will always be remembered for true quality, flavour and a comfortable atmosphere.

Victorian Room, 9K

Bedroom, 9KStaying at Redcoats:There are 12 Double or Twin Bedded rooms, each room individually designed and comfortably furnished.

  • 2 longterm private cottages

Redcoats is a country house hotel with accommodation shared between the main house, the stable courtyard and Milk Parlour. All rooms provide the same high standard of service although the rooms in the main house are larger. Each room has direct dial telephone and colour television with remote control. Room service and a laundry facility are also available.

BOBBIES ROOM
'Bobbies Room', named after our wonderful Aunt, whose room it used to be when Redcoats was a private house.

We eventually finished the major alterations to rooms 1 & 2 in September 2005 (started circa 1485!!). Now a suite! It boasts a sitting room, with TV/VHS/DVD, leading on to a gorgeous bedroom. The bathroom is superb and has a large walk in shower & jacuzzi bath.

There is much to explore - Knebworth House, Hatfield House, Luton Hoo and Woburn are just some of the many splendid Stately Homes within the area. The Roman City of St Albans (outstanding shops and Antique emporia), the traditional market town of Hitchin and the historic university town of Cambridge all lie within 30 minute drive.

Whether staying at Redcoats for business or pleasure, your time here will be rewarding and remembered.Redcoats is an outstanding venue for both business and private occasions. We like to feel we offer something for everyone, with a choice of restaurants for either Luncheon, Dinner or Supper in the Conservatory; the peace and tranquillity to discuss business; space for Corporate Hospitality and marquees for larger occasions or just simply the freedom to indulge, unwind and relax.

We look forward to meeting you.
