History
Pinfold house is an early Victorian coaching inn, built in 1841, it was formerly The Bull.
In 1836 the new mail coach service had just started in Elland and The Bull became a staging inn.
The mail coach left Elland with 14 horses for the climb up the steep hill of Dewsbury Road to reach upper Edge, when the coach reached the inn six horses were left here to rest and the coach carried on with the eight horses for the remaining 14 day journey to London.
