The Pheasant Inn, 14K

The Pheasant Inn is set in the Northumberland National Park, and is erverything a country inn should be. Originally a farm, it is nearly four centuries old, with stone walls and low beams. It became a staging post for mail and tax collection, but has since developed into a welcome and homely oasis, to accommodate tourists and locals alike.

The Barn and Hemmel now house eight delightfully appointed bedrooms, all of which have en-suite facilities.

The two bars and dining room, with their wealth of beams and open fires, feature many old farm implements, pictures of the valley as it used to be, with its many characters together with antique copper and brass ware. The dining room is furnished in mellow pine, giving a wonderful feeling of warmth. For the comfort of all our customers, the dining room and bedrooms are non-smoking areas.Dining Room, 14K

Bar meals are available at lunchtime and evenings, and the restaurant is open at night. On Sundays, a traditional roast lunch is always served. All this adds up to an enjoyable stay at The Pheasant.

The Pheasant is situated in a central and very convenient location to enable visitors to visit the many places of interest in Northumberland with its castles, beautiful National Trust coastline with fine beaches, fishing villages and golf courses.

Cragside House, at Rothbury is steeped in history and has lovely gardens which are renowned for their spring-time displays of azaleas and rhododendrons. Wallington Hall at Cambo is another fine house, very popular with tourists. Just a few miles north, you enter the Scottish border region, which has many Castles and Stately Homes, all open to the public in the summer season.
