| "Then come who pine for peace and pleasure, Away from counter, court or school, Spend here your measure of time and treasure, And taste the treats of Penmaenpool". Gerard Manley Hopkins, 1844-1889 Nestling peacefully in the foothills of the Cader Idris Mountains, Penmaenuchaf Hall enjoys an enviable position, with views over the Mawddach Estuary, one of the finest in Europe, and to the hills beyond. ![]() Within the Snowdonia National Park, this handsome Victorian Mansion is surrounded by 21 acres of terraced gardens and woodlands and, with its sunken rose gardens and ornamental pond, gives a foretaste of the gracious living to be experienced in the tranquil and romantic atmosphere of Penmaenuchaf Hall. The Hall is secluded and yet within easy reach of many attractions, historic castles, "Great Little Trains", gold and slate mines and safe sandy beaches. Country pursuits abound. Penmaenuchaf Hall has 13 miles of fishing on the rivers Maeddach and Wnion. Picturesque walks, sailing, clay pigeon shooting, canoeing, pony trekking and golf are but a few of the activities available. Those interested in bird watching will be delighted with the hide on the estuary at Penmaenpool. For the less energetic why not enjoy a game of snooker, cards, backgammon, and scrabble or play the grand piano. |
| A warm and personal welcome awaits you in this splendid country house which was built in 1860 as a summer and sporting residence by Bolton cotton magnate James Leigh Taylor, whose heraldic crest stands above the main entrance. With such an abundance of fine qualities it is difficult to know where to begin: in the main Hall, perhaps where the warmth and elegance of a genuine country home, with its rich oak panelling and blazing log fire, reflects a more gracious age. |
The sumptuously furnished Morning Room has outstanding views to the Rhinog Mountains and across the Mawddach Estuary; it is perfect for relaxing with a good book, enjoying morning coffee or traditional afternoon tea.![]() We are sure you will be delighted with the superb food prepared by our talented, award winning chefs, of whom we are justly proud. Fresh local produce and herbs from our gardens combine to create the exceptional cuisine, which will be one of the highlights of your stay. To complement your meal we have assembled an extensive selection of wines from various regions of the world.
