Orange Cottage is a quaint Victorian, fully detached, large Cottage in the shadow of Splash Mill and overlooking the duck pond in the centre of historic Wraysbury Village.![]() The Cottage is surrounded on 3 sides by its own private garden - the fourth overlooks The Splash - now a duck pond which was the original ford crossing between Staines and Windsor. Since the new bridge was built this all now lies off the beaten track. ![]() The Cottage was featured in Period Living and Traditional Homes magazine in their April 2005 issue. |
The entrance is through an ancient oak door into a large, long library conservatory. (Please feel free to read or swap any books.)Up a few steps into a long kitchen with floor to ceiling windows with gothic arches overlooking the garden. A stable door leads onto a wooden veranda with steps down to the garden.![]() The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, two door Aga cooker ( not in use in the warmer months), conventional halogen cooker, large oak dresser and pine table and chairs for six. A small corridor leads from the kitchen to a large downstairs bathroom with w.c., wash basin and bath with overbath shower. ![]() At the library entrance to the kitchen, double doors lead into a very large lounge and dining room. The dining room has a 6 seater oak table with leather and oak chairs and carvers. The lounge has leather furniture. There is a large TV with digi-box, DVD and video, stereo unit and wood burning stove. The door from the lounge leads to a laundry room with washing machine and access to the verandah and garden. Another door gives access to a study with leather inlaid desk and leather chair. Double French windows open from the lounge into a second conservatory overlooking the river and is equipped with table and chairs and a drinks fridge for Summer months. The dining room overlooks the library entrance conservatory. The entire ground floor is heavily beamed with dark wooden floors and oriental rugs. Carpeted stairs lead from the dining room to the first floor. One double-bedded room and 1 twin bedded room are to the left of the landing together with a private shower room with w.c. and wash basin. To the right of the landing is a the large en-suite master bedroom. This is a triple aspect room with a 2 seater sofa and is large enough to add an additional single bed for a child or additional family member. |
All bedrooms are fully carpeted in cream and have firm mattresses. All beds are made with freshly laundered crisp white linen. All have flat screen televisions and locks on the doors. Both double rooms have hair dryers.![]() The house is fully centrally heated (with the exception of the 2 conservatories) and has constant hot water heated by the Aga in Winter and an electric immersion in the warmer months. Both double bedrooms have floor to ceiling mirror wardrobes. The pretty garden has the stream from the Splash running through and on past Splash Mill. Crossing the water via a wooden bridge there is a grassed area leading to a covered loggia. A paved area has wooden garden chairs and a table. A BBQ is available for Summer use. A "hidden" bower also has wooden seating. There is a set of old stocks in the side garden but no ducking stool! |
| Orange Cottage has parking for 3 cars. The Perseverance Pub is just around the corner and serves excellent home cooked food. A take-away fish and chip/Chinese shop is within a 2 minute walk and various local shops within a few minutes walk. Wraysbury train station has trains into London and Windsor and is a 10 minute walk away. Tea, coffee, milk, cereals, orange juice, bread and jams are supplied for breakfast. Linen, towels and soap are all supplied. Wireless internet access is available A "pay as you go" mobile telephone can be provided on request |
| Tariff Orange Cottage is normally let as one whole unit. However, during quiet periods or at short notice individual rooms may be available. As 1 unit £200 per night or £1000 for stays of 7 nights. Master bedroom with en-suite: £70 per night Master bedroom with additional single bed: £100 per night Double bedroom with private bathroom: £65 per night Twin bedroom with private bathroom: £65 per night Please regret that we do not take children under the age of 7 All bookings must be accompanied by a valid credit card. Where the house is let as one unit a 50% non-refundable deposit is taken at booking with the remaining 50% payable on arrival and subject to a 7 day cancellation period. For lettings of individual rooms we do not normally take a deposit but operate a cancellation period of 48 hours prior to date of arrival, Arrival times: 5pm - 7:30pm only or earlier by arrangement Check-out times: 10am weekdays, 11am, weekends and Bank Holidays As Orange Cottage is run under the auspices of a local bed and breakfast establishment all guests should come to the main house to register and meet Sylvia, the Proprietor, who will then take them to Orange Cottage |
