| The Old Rectory is situated in the conservation village of Belton in Rutland, a village just off the A47 3 miles west of Uppingham halfway between Leicester and Peterborough located just inside the border of 'England's Smallest Country'. We are fortunate to have a number of excellent local pubs and restaurants within a five to ten minute drive and are happy to make recommendations for lunch or your evening meal, according to your taste or size of pocket. Most of our comfortable en-suite rooms have direct access outside, so you may come and go as you please. Breakfast, a good traditional farmhouse affair, or a lighter continental style can be arranged to suit individual requirements from 7am to 8.45am. | We offer traditional farmhouse-style bed and breakfast accommodation and can provide packed lunches by prior arrangement. The majority of rooms are located in the Stable Annexe, all have en-suite showers and toilet; A superior twin room with en-suite bath/shower is available in the Main House, as well as economy rooms with shared facilities. All rooms have a washbasin, colour television, and tea and coffee making facilities as well as free Wi-Fi access. We have a self catering room available for short breaks and a fully furnished 2 bedroom self catering apartment which sleeps up to 5 people. The guest accommodation is completely separate from the owners part of the house, so guests will not feel as though they are 'intruding'. We have some horses and a small flock of sheep with lambs in the spring. The house, with its large garden and grounds, stands in an elevated position overlooking the Eyebrook Valley and rolling Rutland countryside on the Edge of this old and charming conservation village. In the village centre is a public house and a church (parts of which date back to circa 1190). |

| About the Area The area is rural in character, home to many old stone-built villages and the small market towns of Uppingham, Oakham and Stamford. Within the area, there are stately homes and houses of historic interest; Belvoir Castle, Boughton House, Burghley House, Dene Park, Kirby Hall, Launde Abbey, Lyddington Bede House, Oakham Castle and Rockingham Castle to name a few. With attractions to suit all ages, from the excitement at the Rockingham Racetrack, to the more serene museums, farm and country parks, forest walks and countryside rambles, Rutland has something to offer everyone. For gardeners we have some excellent local gardens and garden centres and of course Geoff Hamilton's famous TELEVISION gardens at 'Barnsdale' - a must for every visitor. If you are feeling energetic you can cycle, ride a horse or walk some of the beautiful local and long distance footpaths, including the Viking Way, Hereward Way, Leicestershire or Rutland Round. The more adventurous may wish to challenge the 235 miles of the Macmillan Way, opened on 25th April 1996 by Sir David Steel in aid of cancer relief. Rutland Water The vast expanse of Rutland Water is less than fifteen minutes away - where the list of activities is endless. You can sail, canoe or windsurf, with excellent facilities for all abilities. Cycle hire is available and a circuit of the reservoir is an ideal way to explore the area. Try your hand at Fly Fishing, from boat or shore, or test your skill at climbing on 'The Rock Block'. Visit the aquatic and butterfly sanctuary or the internationally renowned bird centre or simply relax and see Rutland from the water on the 'Rutland Belle' pleasure cruiser. Directions Belton in Rutland is situated midway between Leicester and Peterborough, just half a mile off the A47, three miles from the town of Uppingham. From the Uppingham roundabout (the junction of A47/A6003) take the A47 towards Leicester for three miles. Take the second turning right into the village of Belton. The Old Rectory is on your left hand side as you approach the village, look out for the bus stop and shelter opposite. |
