![]() ![]() ![]() | Overnight stays, short breaks, weekly self-catering Welcome to a windmill in the heart of the Kentish countryside. We have two apartments. Both are on the ground floor adjacent to the main mill building. They originated as a granary and engine shed, once containing an 8hp Robey steam engine to drive the mill in windless conditions . Each apartment has an independent entrance and off road parking. Being adjacent, they can be combined for a single group booking, retaining their independence if desired. Both apartments have access to the washing machine and tumble drier. The garden has a barbeque and furniture. Bed linen and towels are supplied. Please ask if you need a cot or highchair
The Granary Guest Room for 2 People has a two-poster double bed, a toilet with shower, and simple but complete cooking arrangements. It opens directly onto the garden. The Location. Northbourne is central to the East Kent area. As a rough guide, Dover docks, for ferries to France are 10 minutes by car, the mediaeval town of Sandwich, is about twelve minutes and Canterbury within half an hour. The sea and historic town of Deal is only three miles away. The area is ideal for walking (dogs by arrangement) and cycling. We have a dedicated off-road and competition track cycling facility at Fowlmead Country Park a mile away. The Village, is ancient and delightful. It probably dates from about 620 AD when it became one of the very first Christian settlements to be founded by St Augustine's followers outside Canterbury. Don't miss the ancient church (perhaps joining the bellringers on a Friday evening), and, of course, the pub. The Hare and Hounds on the street, only about three minutes walk from the Mill, for good beer and food. You can order a take away meal from here which ( staff permitting ) will be delivered to you at the Mill. If you would like wine or champagne in your apartment this can be arranged too. Just telephone the Hare and Hounds on 01304 365429
