The Hotel
Built in 1590 in the shape of an E to honour Queen Elizabeth I, it has in more recent times been sympathetically converted into a nineteen bedroom hotel.
Situated in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck, Mortons House provides the perfect setting from which to enjoy this beautiful corner of England, within easy reach of the beaches at Sudland, Swanage, Lulworth and Durdle Door.
The individual guest rooms all have bathroom, colour television, telephone and tea and coffee making facilities.
The hotel holds 2 AA rosettes for its traditional English cuisine. Mortons House also boasts an excellent wine list and rooms are available for private parties, conferences and weddings. |

The Elizabethan Room
Beautiful spacious studio suite in the original part of the manor house with four poster bed, lounge area, spa bath and dressing room. Ideal for any special occasion!
The Purbeck Suite
Garden suite with attractive double bedroom, spa bath and separate lounge.
The Castle Suite
Junior suite via a private staircase, with private ensuite bedroom and separate lounge with lovely views of the castle.
Double or Twin bedded rooms
Each individually decorated and all have private bathroom, colour television, tea and coffee making facilities. Some have castles views. |
The Restaurant
Our Restaurant Manager will ensure your meal is a success as they serve the freshly prepared menus from our team of chefs. It is also possible that with due warning they will produce any dish of your choice, so be prepared!
Bar Lunches, Full Luncheon and Traditional Sunday Luncheons are available from 12 Noon, Dinner is served from 7pm. Light snacks and Room Service are available until 10pm.
Private Dining for up to 22 persons can also be made available in the beautiful Castle Room for that special occasion or anniversary. |
About The House
Our house is one of the earliest in Corfe and perhaps the finest-not that we are biased! "Dacombs" as it was originally known dates back to circa 1590. The house was originally built for William Dacomb. William was a wealthy gentleman owing many plots of land and the Dacomb family themselves were prominent citizens of the Village of Corfe.
Edward Dacomb, one of Williams's descendants, was the local Mayor in 1697; "Dacombs" was inherited by John Morton in 1712 and then passed to the Bond family through marriage.
Over the years Mortons House has been altered and upgraded to become a fine Hotel-but we believe the house would be instantly recognizable as the Tudor residence of its previous owners. |
