About Us
Monkscider House is a converted 16th Century farmhouse, offering luxurious and comfortable accommodation, and a warm welcome.
Jan and David opened Monkscider House B&B as a new venture five years ago, and enjoy welcoming new visitors.
We are delighted to say, though, that at least 50% of our guests are on their 2nd, 3rd or even 5th visits.
Washford is ideally situated between Exmoor and the Quantocks, just a couple of miles South of Watchet on the coast. Steam trains run through the village, and there is a railway station and museum, and even an old monastery - Cleve Abbey, and a theme park for children - the Tropiquaria. Public transport runs through the village on a half hourly basis, and, if you are a walker, we are happy to get you to your start point - or pick you up at the end - within reason.

| Breakfast is in our long beamed dining room, where we serve large traditional breakfasts for hungry hikers with plenty of fruit and mueslis for the health conscious. We also cater for those on special diets - and can serve up an evening meal if planned in advance. |
Evenings in can be spent in our comfortable sitting room - with a large wood burner.If you feel like having a tinkle on the piano, feel free to do so.

Accommodation
Our large, vaulted double bedroom can take a couple of extra beds to turn it into a family room (the en-suite bathroom is vaulted, too!). The twin room has an en-suite shower, and a dressing area - and our guests never fail to tell us how comfortable our beds are.

Location
Washford is on the A39 between Williton and Minehead. Monkscider House is on the main road East of the Village, across the courtyard of Washford Farm
By Rail
Travelling by West Somerset Steam Railway? You can catch this at Bishop's Lydiard. Washford is the stop after Watchet, going towards Minehead. There is also a Steam Railway Museum at Washford Station. We are on the oppposite side of the village to the station - about half a mile.
By Bus
The number 28 bus to Minehead picks up at Taunton Station, and drives right past Monkscider House. Ask the driver for 'The Barns' just after you have passed the Tropiquaria.
