   | 'Low Penhowe' is old Yorkshire dialect for 'the sheep pen on a hill'. Low Penhowe, with absolutely stunning views was described as "a very elegant home" by VisitBritain, which has awarded B&B owners, Philippa and Christopher Turner 5 Star and the Gold award for their outstanding Yorkshire Bed and Breakfast.     | Accommodation Double Room with en-suite bathroom This first floor double room with king size bed and en-suite bathroom have been refurbished to a very high standard. The bathroom has a separate bath, shower, toilet and washbasin. Twin/Double Room with a private bathroom This first floor Twin/Double room faces south overlooking the well-kept garden and paddocks. You have the choice of having this bedroom made up as a twin with two very comfortable beds or with a very large super king size bed! The private bathroom is just along the corridor and has a bath, shower, loo and washbasin. We have freshly laundered robes for your convenience. Both rooms face south, overlooking the well-kept garden and paddocks. From here you will enjoy seeing the Highland cattle, their calves and our free range chicken clucking around the paddock. We are also fortunate enough to have a big wild bird population pecking away at the feeders which maybe easily seen from the bedroom window. Smaller Double Room or Single Room Our additional smaller Double Room faces east and enjoys the morning sun. From here you overlook the rolling hills back towards the Yorkshire Wolds. On occasions and depending on which paddock, you will enjoy seeing the Highland cattle and their calves. This room is only available to a party of three or four who are travelling together and are prepared to share the private bathroom with their family or friends. At Low Penhowe we normally provide Bed and Breakfast accommodation to a maximum of 4 guests at anyone time. However on occasions we will provide accommodation to a maximum of 6 guests and no more! Breakfast At Low Penhowe B&B you will start the day with a wonderfully prepared Yorkshire Breakfast. Breakfast at Low Penhowe is well worth waking up for! Enjoy a selection of our own free-range eggs, and from our butcher, locally cured bacon, black pudding and sausages. The Muesli, Granola, Yoghurt, Low Penhowe poached rhubarb and Fruit Compote, Flour for the Home baked Bread, Tomatoes, Mushrooms and Butter are all sourced locally. As an alternative our guests are able to enjoy kippers smoked in Yorkshire and home roasted York ham and poached eggs. To finish off your breakfast we offer homemade marmalade and jams, home baked bread and honey from village farms. No other B&B will offer you such a real Yorkshire Bed and Breakfast! |
  | Reception Rooms For those wishing to stay in contact whilst away! We now provide WiFi (wireless access to the internet). So, if you have a wireless enabled device such as a PC, a laptop or a PDA, please bring them, hook up to the internet, deal with the e-mail and remain in contact! Reception Hall and Galleried Landing As you step through the front door a warm 'Welcome to Yorkshire' awaits you. The hall and galleried landing is the central point, from here you are able to wander through to the Drawing room to relax, the Dining room for breakfast or up the stairs for the bedrooms. On the way upstairs to the bedrooms, stop and just take in the panoramic views of the North York Moors with Castle Howard nestled in to the foreground. Dining Room You will be served breakfast in a delightful dining room with stunning northerly views stretching across to the Howardian Hills, Castle Howard and the North Yorkshire Moors. You will be able to see Castle Howard and the White Horse at Kilburn. Drawing Room The Drawing Room faces south, overlooks the garden and is for the exclusive use of our guests. Spacious and comfortable, it is the perfect place to unwind on arrival, curl up with a good book, or simply relax in front of the open log fire whilst we pour you a cup of tea or coffee! |
