John and I would like to welcome you to our charming country guest house, which is located in an idyllic riverside setting surrounded by six acres of beautiful garden and woodland.
We are situated north of Kendal on the A6, just inside the Lake District National Park, five miles from the market town of Kendal, where there is easy access to the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Eden Valley and Scotland.
Low Jock Scar is a special place where one may enjoy the delights of a country retreat without experiencing the usual problems of driving to a rural location. Trees, wildlife and birds help to form a perfect setting to complete the feeling of having found somewhere that is a bit different and off the beaten track.
We offer B&B facilities as well as a self contained holiday cottage. Choose from Double/Twin bedrooms with fabulous views of the garden. Four of our bedrooms are en-suite with two bedrooms being on the ground floor.
Low Jock Scar is a very popular venue for groups and can accommodate 10 to 12 people. Ample off-road parking in the grounds is available for all our guests.
Delicious breakfasts and evening meals (by arrangement) are served in the sun room with beautiful views. The guest house has a residential license and stocks a range of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks. There is a large comfortable sitting room.
We are perfectly situated as a base from which to explore this beautiful part of the country. Kendal is only 10 minutes drive away and has a good range of shops and places of local historical interest. Beyond that the options are endless and many of them easily manageable within the day.
You are assured of a relaxing atmosphere to unwind as we know the Lakes and surrounding areas well and are more than happy to provide ideas for your holiday with us.

Bed and Breakfast
We have five large double/twin bedrooms, all of which have fabulous views of the garden.
Four bedrooms are en-suite with two being on the ground floor.
Each bedroom is bright, airy and comfortable having it's own character and unique views of the river, gardens, bridges and surrounding Cumbrian hills.
They are all thoughtfully furnished with tea trays and hairdryers, with many more facilities designed to ensure your stay is pleasurable and comfortable. |
Self Catering Cottage
Our superbly furnished self catering cottage provides a welcome retreat with beautiful views over the garden, bridge and bird tables. The following facilities are provided:

- Well equipped kitchen with dining table
- Large lounge offering magnificent views of the garden, equipped with a comfortable double sofa bed
- One twin/double bedroom
- All duvets, linen and towels provided

The cottage is cosy and comfortable in winter and is a wonderful secluded spot to relax and unwind.

Arrival:
Check-in is after 4pm on the day of arrival unless otherwise arranged. Advice of approximate arrival times is appreciated -should you need to arrive after 9pm, please arrange in advance.
Departure:
Check-out is before 10.30am on the day of departure.
Payment:
We accept cash, debit card and personal cheques. Credit cards are accepted with a surcharge added.
Smoking:
For the comfort of all our guests we operate a no smoking policy.
Pets:
Unfortunately we are unable to accept pets in the building.
Children:
Children aged from 12 years are welcome in the guest house. More flexibility is available in the self catering cottage.
