| The Lorna Doone Hotel is a family run, licensed Hotel centrally situated in Porlock, yet within walking distance of both Exmoor and the Exmoor Coastline. A Hotel since 1984, William Hancock, a brewer from Wiveliscombe, erected the Present building in 1886 on the site of the old 'Three Horseshoes Inn' and the buildings around the courtyard at the rear are the original stables and coachmen's cottages. All rooms are en-suite, individually furnished and each named from the Lorna Doone story. Enjoy superb local fare cooked in our restaurant. Relax with coffee in our cosy residents lounge or perhaps a drink at the bar. All our facilities will go towards assuring you of a warm welcome and a pleasant stay. | Our Restaurant, which s also open to non-residents, has an extensive menu from light meals to gourmet specialties. Offering a comprehensive A La Carte evening menu, to include local Exmoor fare, venison, beef, lamb, duck, and fresh local fish. Thai cuisine and vegetarian are our specialty. Special diets catered fro (Vegan, Coeliac etc) by arrangement. We have an interesting, quality wine list which is available from the Bar. Booking is recommended. Parties and special occasions catered for. Please call or email for more information. Coffee Shop and Servery Hot meals and light snacks are served from 11.00, including of course Somerset Cream Teas with our local clotted cream. |
| The Lorna Doone can cater for all your special occasions - weddings, christenings, dinner parties, funerals etc. Hog/lamb roasts no occasion too small. A well as catering for your events, we have a private room available for hire for family get-togethers, themed events, or private dinning fro up to 20 people, we can even provide a disco for you. Please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you and your guests. Menu worked out to suit all budgets. |
| All bedrooms are en-suite and are individually furnished with a choice of twin, standard double or king size beds, each named after central characters from the Lorna Doone story. Equipped with central heating, colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Cots, hairdryers, shoe cleaning kit, sewing kit and iron and ironing board available for guests on request. The cottage rooms are across a courtyard from the hotel and have adjoining children's rooms. The stable room is at ground level in the courtyard. Guests are welcome to bring their dogs at an additional cost. |
