If you think of new-millennium therapies, in a Farmhouse Spa, set in Exmoor National Park, you get an idea of our inspiration. We have the spectacular, many would say spiritual, scenery of atmospheric Exmoor National Park with its pure air, wonderful wildlife and little traffic. We offer informal tailor made Spa breaks for couples and girlie/Hen weekends, rather than the group nature of a retreat or the glossy clinical image of a health farm. Walking the moor and visiting the village pub are just as important a part of the Spa break as the treatments.

The old farm barns set around a small courtyard have been converted to a Spa building forming one side of the courtyard and accommodation on the other two sides. Choose either en-suite bedrooms in the Long Barn or one of the self-catering cottages, the smallest one sleeping 2 and the largest sleeping 6.

Home Place Farmhouse Spa in the Exmoor National Park

Fresh air, little or no traffic and natural beauty are all an important part of the Spa experience.

Exmoor is an area of outstanding natural beauty, famous for its red deer and ponies, spectacular scenery and pretty villages which provide an excellent backdrop for walking and riding.

The spectacular sands at Woolacombe and Saunton and the rocky coves of Combe Martin and Heddon's Mouth are only a short drive as are the old fishing ports of Lynmouth and Porlock.

Home Place Spa is set in five acres of private meadowland and its own lake for you to relax by. It fronts onto the river Bray, on the edge of the tiny village of Challacombe with its traditional Village Shop and Village Pub just an easy five minute stroll.

Two good footpaths lead from the door up onto the moor, riding is available nearby and a Village Taxi and Minibus service will take you to Barnstaple with its nightlife or one of the moor's rustic pubs.

Eating out

The Village Pub, The Black Venus, has a good reputation for food providing a light lunch as well as an extensive evening menu and is well worth a visit. Within easy reach is the Poltimore Arms which is also renowned for good food and drink (6 miles) or The Old Station House at Blackmoor Gate which provides an "open all day" service. Barnstaple with night clubs, wine bars and variety of restaurants is only 10 miles away.
