| Built in the 19th Century, Holbeck Ghyll was bought in 1888 by Lord Lonsdale, one of the richest men in the country, to use as his hunting lodge. The "Yellow Earl", as he was known, was the first president of the Automobile Association and bequeathed the famous Lonsdale Belt to boxing. |

| The Miss Potter Suite Actors Renee Zellweger and Lloyd Owen, and producers and directors of the film 'Miss Potter' (released in January 2007) stayed at Holbeck Ghyll during filming in April 2006, and fell in love with Holbeck Ghyll. In celebration, we have named our newest luxury suite, the Miss Potter Suite. The detached suite has 325sq ft of living space, French doors from bedroom, bathroom and lounge onto a private terrace featuring a sunken hot tub, which is a perfect vantage point to take in the spectacular lake views. ![]() All bedrooms at Holbeck Ghyll are en-suite, contain every modern amenity and most have views over Lake Windermere. | During 1998, six further rooms were opened in a detached house only 45 yards through the grounds.Lodge rooms are interconnecting with magnificent Lake Views, ground floor access, and individual patio or balcony areas. All have stereo systems, tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar, and one has a kitchen area. The luxurious bathrooms also have separate shower cubicles.
