| Malcolm and Loraine welcome you to their elegant detached Victorian villa built around 1837. Retaining some of its original features including ornate cornices, stained glass windows and impressive cupola Heathpark, which was once a Dundee shipowner's summer residence, is truly a delightful country house. The hospitality is relaxed and friendly and the large, attractive rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished. There is a guest lounge in which to relax and unwind or in the summer months sit on the sunken patio and enjoy the two acres of woodland and well stocked gardens where pheasants can often be seen crossing the lawn. Heathpark House, which attained the Scottish Tourist Board 4 star award for excellence in its first year of business is situated three quarters of a mile from the centre of Blairgowrie and is an ideal base for exploring the Scottish countryside. It is well situated for those avid golfers with many courses within easy reach. The championship Rosemount and Lansdowne courses are practically on our doorstep. The five lochs between Blairgowrie and Dunkeld provide the perfect setting for birdwatching and angling and for those who prefer sightseeing, Glamis Castle the former childhood home of the late Queen Mother is close by. Winter sporting activities are also well catered for with the Glenshee Ski Centre a short drive north of here. The centre of Edinburgh is just over an hour away by road with Dundee and Perth taking only 30 minutes to reach by car. |
| History Heathpark House is thought to have been built between 1837 and 1841. Records show that the land was bought in 1837 by John Thain a shipowner from Dundee, and the very first census taken in 1841 lists Heathpark House, its owners and servants. The Thain family made this their summer home and their daughter Jessie is reputed to have been the fiancee of Robert Murray McCheyne a notable evengelical preacher of the time. A copy of Jessie's diary extracts is in our possession the first entry being in 1843. Sometime in 1858 the house was bought by Thomas Clark a bookseller and publisher from Edinbugh and has been owned by several notable Perthshire families since that date. The first Ordnance Survey map in 1861 shows the house set in 12 acres of grounds with a walled garden and extensive woodland. ![]() Accommodation: Heathpark has three guest bedrooms all of which are spacious, decorated to a high standard and offering a very good level of comfort with a number of thoughtful touches. Each room has quality furniture and furnishings, colour television, radio, trouser press and hairdryer.
