Harmony Country Lodge
Your hosts, Susan and Tony invite you to their peaceful, non smoking retreat just a short distance from the coast and surrounded by beautiful countryside near the North York Moors National Park and three miles north of Scarborough.
Whatever the weather you can be assured of a very warm welcome.

Harmony Country Lodge was originally built by Charles A. Earl, an American, who settled here after the First World War. Formerly called Roundhills, but known locally as 'the round house' due to its unusual octagonal design, Harmony stands in its own extensive private grounds, with ample parking facilities and has commanding 360 degree panoramic views of Scarborough Castle, the sea and surrounding forests and hills.
The village of Burniston, with its own interesting history nestles in the heart of some wonderful countryside, with the National Park, Dalby Forest, Harwod Dale and the National Nature Reserve of Forge Valley woodlands close by - so there is plenty of opportunity for walking, cycling or motoring tours. The area also offers some breathtaking scenery for photographers, artists and nature lovers. |

Nearby Attractions
Scarborough, England's oldest holiday resort is just a short drive away. Once the ancient Viking settlement of Skarthaborg, it now offers a wide range of modern shops, restaurants, gardens and entertainment, as well as history. Further along the coast is the picturesque village of Robin Hood's Bay, dramatic Flamborough Head or Whitby with its wealth of religious, maritime and literary history. Perhaps you would like to visit the now famous television 'Heartbeat' country of Goathland and also take a nostalgic steam train journey through the natural beauty of the North York Moors.
Less than an hour's drive away, near the ancient city of York there is also Castle Howard where 'Brideshead Revisited' was filmed. Whatever your preference, Harmony Country Lodge is an ideal base for plenty of 'good days out'. |

Accommodation
Our aim at Harmony is to give friendly, personal service during your visit. We can offer attractively decorated, comfortable single, twin, double or family rooms all with private facilities, television and complimentary tray. In keeping with the nature of the house, each room is individually named and has a unique view of the sea or countryside. You can relax in the guest lounge or enjoy the superb views from our spacious, windchime decorated conservatory. We regret we cannot accommodate babies and young children.

In 1990 Tony hung up his racing leathers after winning the Motorcycling Sidecar World Championship three times with his partner Steve Webster. Now life is on a different track in comfortable, peaceful surroundings and we very much hope you will enjoy 'living in Harmony' during your stay with us.

You can start your day with a full traditional English breakfast or vegetarian option. We are happy to cater for guests with alternative diets whenever possible.
Whilst you are with us, you may like to treat yourself to a relaxing fragrant massage, Reflexology or Indian Head Massage. Treatments by prior arrangement.
We are also a quiet retreat for those choosing spiritual upliftment, counselling, healing and meditation.
We also have our own church for ceremonies and blessings. |

There is no charge for dogs in the caravan, but for dogs in the house we have a nominal charge of £3 per night (£15 per week). As we have cats and wildlife, please keep your pet on a lead in our grounds and ensure they are well behaved. For hygiene reasons, and to respect our other guests' wishes to walk around the garden, please ensure that all your pet's toilet arrangements are performed outside the grounds. There is a 'doggy-walk' just outside our entrance to the right, but please be aware of the usual bylaws concerning dogs and make sure you clear up behind you. Please do not leave your animal/s in the house or caravan unattended and bring his/her own clean bedding. |

Harmony Country Lodge is then approximately a quarter of a mile at the top of the hill on the right hand side.
Travelling from Whitby, take the Scarborough road through Cloughton and immediately after entering Burniston, take the first right before the Rix Garage into Limestone Road and proceed as directions above.
