| Things to do This quiet area of Sussex is ideal for walking, horse-riding, cycling and golf and yet is within easy reach of historic Lewes, the bright lights of Brighton, the royal spa town of Tunbridge Wells and elegant Eastbourne on the sunshine coast. Children are well catered for in the locality. Famous Beachy Head (www.beachyhead.org.uk) and Seven Sisters Country Park (www.sevensisters.org.uk) are nearby as is the Bluebell railway (www.bluebell-railway.co.uk) and Drusillas (www.drusillas.co.uk), considered by many to be the best small zoo in England. Opera lovers can enjoy a night's stay here en route to Glyndebourne (www.glyndebourne.com), fifteen minutes away. Charleston Farmhouse (www.charleston.org.uk), home of Vanessa Bell of the "Bloomsbury set" is nearby and Chiddingly itself boasts Farleys Farm House home of Lee Miller (www.leemiller.co.uk) and Sir Roland Penrose (www.rolandpenrose.co.uk), famous surrealist artists. London is approximately 50 miles away, accessible by train from Lewes station. |
| Equestrian Cross Country Hire Set in 65 acres of beautiful rolling pasture under the Environmental Stewardship Scheme and bordered by the Bull River and The Weald Way, the Hale Cross Country Course is designed to give confidence to both horse and rider. Built at different levels from Mini (1ft 9 inches), Novice (2ft 3 inches), Intermediate (2ft 9 inches) to Open (3ft 6 inches), there are over a 100 fences which are being updated constantly.
The jumps include a Water Complex, Banks, Corners, Trakheners, Ditches, Drop Fences and an Old Quarry and are used regularly for training clinics and for competitions by The Pony Club and local riding clubs.
