| Gorsten Farmhouse is about 4 miles south-east of the ferry terminal at Craignure, near the hamlet of Lochdon, close by the sea shore. We offer good food, comfortable rooms, friendliness, and above all, peace and quiet, if you so wish! The views from our house are stunning - as above - of Lismore lighthouse, Ben Nevis and the Glencoe Mountain range, with the twin peaks of Cruachan to the right. They are all on the mainland, a 45 minute ferry ride away. Breakfast is taken in the conservatory, looking at the view above, but also at Mull landmarks such as Duart Castle to our left, and the sea shore to the right and in front of us. Deer and abundant bird life surrounds us. |
| Our bedrooms are on both ground floor (for easy access) and upstairs; all face the front, so all guests have the same beautiful views. | ![]() |
| The sunrises are often spectacular, if you wish to get up early enough to see them! |

| Deer roam freely over Gorsten, mingling with the sheep and lambs in season. There are wild flowers in abundance, and, depending on the time of year, glorious beds of wild Iris near the shore , as well as ground nesting birds. |

| If you prefer not to rise at dawn, the sky scenes are splendid throughout the day - the light is always changing on Mull, as the weather is pulled fast across Mulls’ own mountains, (which include a Munroe- Ben More)and the mainland mountains mentioned on the first page. Whatever time of day, the air is full of bird song and calls, from the delicate cry of the curlews, the chattering of swallows, and the loud song of common garden birds, to nesting swallows and sand martins. Sometimes, Sea eagles as well as Golden eagles can be watched- and heard!-especially if you take a short walk down to the shore. Our guests are welcome to go walking on Gorsten estate, and may see otters and seals, if the tides and time of year are right. There are sign posted walks, to Duart Castle view, and to the shore, going round the pastures at the rear of the farmhouse. We can cater for vegetarians as well as other diets, if you let us know your requirements when booking. We offer a good Scottish breakfast, or lighter breakfasts if preferred. Advice on other Isle of Mull attractions and activities is available, from quiet bird watching days to boat trips to Staffa and Iona, or the shops to find in the ‘hurly-burly’ of Tobermory, our ‘capital’! ![]() Whether you want a quiet break for bird watching and wild flower spotting, photography and painting, simply relaxing in a quiet but fairly central spot, or to take the various Island tours, we can offer advice and assistance on where and how to book them. |
![]() ![]() | We want everyone to enjoy their stay, and many of our guests return yearly, there is so much to see. Please feel free to ask or email any queries or special needs when booking your stay. |
