| Things to Do Thornhill's shops, pubs and restaurants are only a 2 minute walk or cycle away. Cyclists are very welcome and there is bicycle storage available as well as a private car park. Surrounded by beautiful Scottish countryside, Gillbank is the ideal base from which to explore this delightful area. Drumlanrig Castle, the home of the Duke of Buccleuch, is only 3 ½ miles away. The rural location is ideal for outdoor sports and activities, such as golf on Thornhill's 18-hole golf course, cycling, walking and fishing for salmon and sea tout on the river Nith, ½ mile away. Directions From the North leave M74 at J14, take the A702 to Carronbridge, the A76 to Thornhill. At roundabout in centre of town turn left. From the South take A76 from Dumfries to Kilmarnoch. In Thornhill turn right at roundabout in town centre. Gillbank is on the left hand side. |
