| Welcome to The General Tarleton An old coaching inn with contemporary comforts, The General Tarleton Inn is in the pretty village of Ferensby close to both York and Harrogate. Set in some of Yorkshire's loveliest scenery you will find relaxed comfort, delicious food and fine wines but above all it is our team of friendly staff who are here to help you make the most of your visit that makes all the difference. People come to The General Tarleton Inn for all sorts of reasons - for lunch or dinner, for a chance to explore Yorkshire's fascinating history and for an escape from work or even to do some work. Local attractions include historic York, Knaresborough, Harrogate and Ripon plus the picture postcard villages, historic houses and famous abbey ruins of the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors. We regularly welcome returning guests who come just to enjoy The General Tarleton Inn's relaxed and unstuffy atmosphere and, of course, the excellent food. |

| Eating We are passionate about serving tasty freshly prepared food and its provenance. At The General Tarleton we work with local farmers and suppliers to obtain the best quality seasonal produce - fish, game, lamb and beef, soft fruit, vegetables and farmhouse cheeses. Fish is a favourite and The General Tarleton is well known for its specialities of little moneybags with lobster sauce and delicious Mediterranean fish soup. |

| Rooms Step inside The General Tarleton Inn to find a warm and welcoming reception lounge with large sofas offering a comfy place in which to relax with the daily papers and glossy magazines. There are fourteen bedrooms, covered courtyard, restaurant and bar brasserie and outside garden plus oodles of car parking space - all adjoining open countryside. The General Tarleton's rooms are all individually decorated and well equipped with the little extras to make your stay comfortable including tea, coffee and hot chocolate making facilities with home-made biscuits, flat screen tvs and wireless internet connection. The beds are dressed with crisp white linen - either duvets or sheets and blankets - and there are big bottle Molton Brown toiletries in the bathrooms. Breakfast at The General Tarleton is served in the Covered Courtyard between 7.30am and 9.30 am Monday to Friday and 8.00am and 9.30am Saturday and Sunday. Please note all our rooms are no smoking. |
